2024 District Trumbauer will be held on Nov. 1 & 2 at James Clemens
- Does my student need to attend both days? Friday is only the One Act Play competition - only the cast and crew of the Fall One Act Play and students who are volunteering at Trumbauer will attend. Saturday is when all the IE competitions take place. Anyone who is participating in an IE or volunteering at Trumbauer will attend Saturday. More information about times, where to go, etc. will be shared with participating students closer to District Trumbauer.
- Does my student need a permission form? Yes, but only if they are attending on Friday as part of the cast or crew of the Fall One Act Play or they are volunteering. If they are only attending Saturday as part of the IE competition or volunteering, then no.
- Is there a cost? There is no additional cost for this competition. Please see the fee page for Fall fees based on your student's activities.
- Can I attend as a parent/guardian? Trumbauer's policies state that only registered volunteers or chaperones may attend on Friday. You are responsible for bringing your child on Saturday and may watch their IE if there is space in the judging room. Only students and chaperones may watch the Studio One Acts and One Acts.
- How does my student register to compete in an IE? They can get this information and registration instructions from Mrs. Patel or Mr. Comer.
- Can I help? YES! Since JCHS is hosting District this year, we will need lots of volunteers both days. A sign-up will be shared soon. All volunteers are asked to compete the MCS background check. Forms Needed for District Trumbauer
Every student attending on Friday must have the Madison City Schools District Trumbauer Form.
Students only attending on Saturday do not need a permission form.

State Trumbauer

2024 State Trumbauer will be held Dec. 5-7 at UNA in Florence, AL
- How can my student attend State? Students may advance to State Trumbauer through a qualifying score on an IE. If the Fall One Act Play advances to state, the cast and crew will attend. Students who participated in District Trumbauer, but their IE did not advance to State may be able to attend based on space. More information about times, hotels, etc. will be shared with participating students closer to State Trumbauer.
- Does my student need a permission form? Yes. They must have the Madison City Schools field trip form and the Out-of-County/Overnight field trip form signed and completed to attend. Please note that the Out-of-County/Overnight form must be notarized. (See forms below) MCS form and Notarized form are due November 21.
- Is there a cost? Yes. The cost is $250. Your student has already paid part or all of this fee if they are in the cast or crew (including JetsTex) of the Fall One Act Play. Please see the fee page for more information. This fee is due November 21.
- Can I attend as a parent/guardian? Trumbauer's policies state that only registered students and chaperones may attend one acts or IEs at the State competition.
- How will my student know if their IE has advanced to State? They will find out at the awards ceremony on Saturday night at District Trumbauer. If they can not attend the awards ceremony, Mrs. Patel or Mr. Comer will let them know at school the next week.
- What are the travel arrangements? Students and chaperones travel on charter buses and stay in a hotel close to the competition.
- What if my student takes medication daily? If your student will need over-the-counter or prescription medication on this trip, you must fill out the medication forms below and have them signed by your student's doctor. Drop off meds and med forms to JC Nurse Amira during school hours Mon Dec 2 - Wed Dec 4. NO meds can be accepted on Thursday, the day of the trip.

Every student must have the Madison City Schools State Trumbauer Form and the notarized Overnight Form.

Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC)
WHAT?
SETC is an annual high school and college theatre convention that includes break-out sessions and classes as well as performances. WHO? This conventions is for all areas of theatre: actors, directors, designers, students, and educators. WHERE? SETC 2025 will be held in Baltimore, MD this year. It changes locations each year. WHEN? March 19-23, 2025 WILL JC THEATRE ATTEND? Maybe. Two one-act plays from State Trumbauer advance to SETC each year. If JC's Fall One Act Play advances, more information about travel plans will be shared. Individual Events do not advance past State Trumbauer, so students will not compete in IE's at SETC. |
